I started painting five years ago after retirement from the high-tech industry.  I paint primarily in oil and acrylic.  My initial interest was in landscape which I pursued for several years, influenced by painters such as Marsden Hartley and Rockwell Kent.  Over time, my technical orientation caused  my painting to change in approach to extracting elements from the a scene and visualizing them as structures to be simplified and interpreted producing multiple variations from that severely abstracted starting point.

My goal is to push further toward abstraction in parallel with landscape practice and to take more risks in abstraction.
